SURROUNDINGS... ...

There is a timeless corner of the world where history, nature, scents and colors meld together: it is Borghetto di Valeggio sul Mincio, an ancient village of windmills, overlooking the waters of the Mincio River, between Verona and Mantua. Gian Galeazzo Visconti decided to have it built in the 1400s at the feet of Ponte Visconteo, a 650-m bridge along which tables are set every year in June to celebrate the "Feast of the Knot of Love", that is, the famous tortellini with their unmistakable fine dough, strictly handmade. The Scaligero Castle overlooks the Mincio Valley, and can be seen together with its imposing towers even from the nearby Sigurtà Park, where from certain angles it seems to be framed by the 30,000 roses growing all along the path. The history of Borghetto (a toponym of Lombard origin which means "fortified settlement") is that of a borderland sought after by seigneuries and armies like: the Gonzagas, the Scaligeris, the Viscontis, the Republic of Venice, Austria and France. It was also the setting of battles during the Napoleonic era and the Italian unification, but despite all this, it has never lost its evocative beauty. Visitors will get a sense of peacefulness any time of year as they stroll through the heart of the village, discovering its views and rare splendor—which has earned it a rightful place among the 160 most beautiful villages of Italy.
Just 2 km from Borghetto stands Valeggio sul Mincio, a town famous precisely for the "Tortellino di Valeggio", a high-quality product made entirely by hand.
Most tourism to Valeggio is to go and admire the Sigurtà Gardens, a magnificent park which has a garden covering 60 ha of land. Thanks to splendid tulip and rose blossoms, little lakes with aquatic plants and immense green fields, it earned second place for Most Beautiful Park in Italy 2015 and first place in 2013.
Set amongst the lush vegetation of fields and trees, with its 200,000 m² park, the Cavour waterpark is deemed to be Italy's greenest waterpark.
There are more water attractions than you can count: pools, aquatic routines, waterfalls, Jacuzzis, tropical beaches and entertainment.
All this lets you spend an unforgettable day in a comfortable and relaxing environment.
The nearest town to Borghetto on Lake Garda is Peschiera del Garda, about 14 km away.
From there you can visit the southern part of the lake with the splendid peninsula of Sirmione or go up the eastern part with its magnificent parks like Gardaland, CanevaWorld and Movie Studios and the picturesque towns of Lazise, Bardolino and Garda.
